The Englewood Senior Softball League was formed in the early 1990’s, and its mission is to provide recreational slow pitch softball to as many men 60 and older as possible. The league has four seasons of team play - Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, and is divided into three Divisions. In the Winter season, the Gold Division (highest skill level) has approximately 110 players, Silver Division (intermediate skill level) has about 120 players, and Bronze Division (less competitive) has about 50 players. All three divisions continue to grow in size. The Bronze Division was introduced in 2019. Details on the Bronze Division can be found in the attachment. (Bronze Division details) Spring, Summer and Fall seasons have about half the number of players. Open practice sessions are held starting at 8:30 AM at the adult softball fields at the Englewood Sports Complex on River Road. These practices take place every Monday through Friday year round. The Gold Division plays on Wednesday and Friday mornings and Silver Division and Bronze Division play on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. During the seasons, open practice sessions continue, but only on Mondays. As mentinoned above, the League now holds competitive play year-round, with four "seasons" - Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. For the Winter season, the league conducts an annual draft/tryout process. Managers of teams select new players to fill out rosters. The draft is typically held the first full week of January, and you must be present at the tryout draft to be eligible to a team. Bronze teams, and the teams for the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons, are determined using a 'paper' / lottery type draft. Any player not available for the draft/tryout or unable to play the full Spring, Summer or Fall season, can be placed in a player pool for that season. If players are needed by a team for a game during any specific season, you may receive a call to see if you are available. Draft / tryout registration forms for the Winter season are available at the Englewood Sports Complex office building OR can be downloaded from the website. (Click on "Registration" from the navigation menu.) All players, including those trying out in the draft, must complete Liability Release form. This form is also available in the "Registration" section of the website. You encouraged to come out and practice, sharpen your softball skills, and have some fun and, importantly, make new friends.
